One-Hit-WondersIt’s One-Hit Wonder Wednesday! Each week, I’ll pick a one-hit wonder to stir nostalgia and make us all ask “what were people thinking?”

This week, it’s “Heart and Soul” by T’Pau.

Named after the leader of the planet Vulcan in the “Star Trek” episode “Amok Time,” British band T’Pau released “Heart and Soul” as the first single off their debut album in the spring of 1987. It ultimately reached number four on the singles charts in both the U.S. and the U.K.

The song was unique for the overlapping vocals of singer Carol Decker, one set singing lyrics, one set speaking (almost rapping) lyrics.

Despite their success with “Heart and Soul,” T’Pau never charted again in the U.S., although they have had great success in the U.K. and Europe and continue to record and perform today.

Check back next week for another One-Hit Wonder Wednesday!
