It’s One-Hit Wonder Wednesday! Each week, I’ll pick a one-hit wonder to stir nostalgia and make us all ask “what were people thinking?”

This week, it’s “Valley Girl” by Frank Zappa.

Believe it or not, rock legend Frank Zappa had only one hit on the charts, this 1982 collaboration with his then 14-year-old daughter Moon Unit. It was intended as a parody of “valley girl” culture that both Zappas hated but, ironically, made “Valspeak” a national fad.
